Over the course of several months (from early 2026 to July 2026), I noticed that the available storage on my laptop's C drive was gradually decreasing. It went from 180 GB to 110 GB, and then to 90 GB. Windows updates usually use up some space, but not to this extent. Meanwhile, my laptop was starting to become slower and slower; it was even taking about 8 minutes to activate the Wi-Fi connection! 

I'm using Claude Code at the moment. So the first suspect is Claude Code. However, after checking all the repositories and folders used by Claude, I found nothing on that scale. I then had to change my strategy. 

I downloaded software called WinDirStat and started tracking the space usage of each program or folder. I finally identified the culprit.: CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal !

To prevent this file from growing excessively again, install the new Microsoft update KB5095093 (released 23/06/2026). According to some sources, this update can prevent CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal from growing excessively.
